The Beehive's Latest Arrivals: Premade Scrapbook Pages

NOTE: My shop The Beehive is now Papercut Kitchen! Please visit my shop Papercut Kitchen by clicking here.

I'm really excited about how my newest additions are turning out and hope to be adding a new layout or two per week to my shop. I plan on doing some traditional baby, wedding etc etc and will always do special orders on anything in my shop but mostly I want to be doing more general, all occasion, unique and artful pages. Know anyone who loves scrapbooks but isn't thrilled about scrapbooking? Send them my way! These layouts are completely designed and handmade by me. Just add your pictures, slide them into your scrapbook and voila, you're a scrapper! Click any image to enlarge it or visit the listing by clicking the title link under the image.

From Greek lepis — a scale + pteron — a wing

Large order of scaly-winged insects, including the butterflies, skippers, and moths; adults are characterized by two pairs of membranous wings and sucking mouthparts, featuring a prominent, coiled proboscis.

Satisfy the closet entomologist in you with this beautiful vintage style butterfly layout.

Happy

Handmade scrapbook pages make you happy? This one's putting in some happy overtime! Bright flower and dot print papers, coordinating ribbons, rhinestones, brads and fabric flower embellishments make this one cheery layout.

Love Ya' To Death

Love, punk style! This two page layout can be used for pictures and journaling of any person, pet, place or thing you love madly. I must admit, I love this layout to death! Pink, black and red; skulls, hearts, ribbons, and stars, what's not to love! Lots of layers and wonderful textures with a dash of bling.

Etsy Team Love

After our guests left and I started catching up on my internet rounds I had a wonderful surprise waiting for me, I was in two treasuries and both of them were created by my fellow etsy team members! I'm now part of two fantastic teams, AREtsy: Arkansas Artists on Etsy and Etsy Twitter. Here are the treasuries, be sure to check them out before they expire and visit the curator's shops to show some love! Want to see what people in these teams create for their etsy shops? Just go to etsy.com and search "AREtsy team" or "Etsy Twitter team".

Boy Little Scrapbook Layout

You know those dreams where you're trying desperately to run but you move like you're running through a beach of molasses? That's the way it's been for me since this weekend. A little bit of everything is getting done but nothing is getting done thoroughly or very well. I have managed to do a few more personal scrapbook pages, yippee! I've decided it's time I wrapped up my 3 year old's baby book for his first year. These pages are from his 8th month, I'm a smidge behind.

I've been intentionally going simple so I can make some progress but as simple as this layout is I really like it. It's some nice rough and tumble boy paper and simple cut from coordinating paper embellishment. The brads holding the stars on the right hand side spell "boy" and under it are sticker letters that spell "little". Boy Little is what we called Lil' Spitfire when he was a baby. It was his super hero name.

I discovered this cool thing over at Your Memories By Design, Saturday Scraplift. It's a little weekly challenge they put out to use one of their designer's layouts as inspiration for your own, then share it with everyone and possibly win a prize, a gift certificate to their shop, gotta love that! So I'm throwing mine into the ring, more for the challenge than the prize, though the prize would be good too! It was a good way to jump start making premade page layouts for my etsy shop. To see the inspiration layout click here.

I turned it into a 2 page spread, here are pics of the other page!

The Beehive Shop Show And Tell

Granola Green (paper bag album)

NOTE: My shop The Beehive is now Papercut Kitchen! Please visit my shop Papercut Kitchen by clicking here.

Happy Friday 13th! It's looking like springtime at the beehive! I must be craving green grass, new leaves and flowers. Here are some more additions to the beehive this week. Listing while sick has been quite a struggle for me. I thought it would be a nice motionless activity to do while recouping but it's not a brainless activity which has gotten me in trouble a few times. First I overpriced my paper bag albums, which are now lower (you can see them here). I've been trying to be a good business gal and actually figure out how much I should pay myself and price accordingly (going along with my new years shop resolutions). In my sickly stupor I somehow added $10+ to my little equation. I also listed several items without measurements and had to go back in and correct. I'll be back on top of things soon. Still managed to list some good stuff and am glad to see my shop stocking up. I'm excited to see what happens as my more focused items fill up the virtual shelves. This weekend I hope to begin making my first pre-made scrapbook pages for my shop and to begin listing those as a new item next week. Fun fun!

This is for if you want me to handwrite your appreceiation box's notes for you. By tonight I will be offering this listing for handwritten title tags in my paper bag albums too!

Safety In Numbers

Woohoo!!! I just snagged my first treasury! I've had my items featured in other peoples' treasuries but never curated one myself. Getting your hands on that precious spot is no small feat either, kudos to those who do it regularly! I think it turned out pretty nice for a first! So, without further ado, here it is Safety in Numbers, featuring my favorite safety pin etsy finds. View the treasury by clicking here, if it gets enough looksees maybe it could even make it to the front page of etsy.

A Bad Case Of Nastomania

nosto·ma·nia (näs′tō mānē ə, -mān)

Main Entry: nostomania

Part of Speech: n

Definition: excessive or abnormal nostalgia; an obsessive or abnormal interest in nostalgia, especially as an extreme manifestation of homesickness; a passion for nostalgia

Etymology: Greek nostos 'homecoming'

As promised earlier, I have returned with a box of nostalgic love! You should be proud of me because I've only very recently grown enough to be able to share embarrassing photos of myself and this cigar box contains some doozies! I hate to let you in on this little tip but you can click the pic to enlarge, oy vey.

Ugh, I feel my cheeks burning already! Lots of me pics. We had an amusement park close by with a fantastic old photo booth. Here you can see me with my high school boyfriend (the one that took me on my first art museum trip in this story) and behind that a strip of just me. Yep, I entered the booth alone to take pictures, that's how much fun I thought it was.

Yes, that's me in the backpack with the terrible perm and bangs that I only dreamed of being able to fluff and spray to early nineties splendor. More importantly that is me about to embark on the infamous 8th grade hiking trip. I was not this happy by the end of the week! But I am wearing my crispy new Poison concert tee fresh from their concert in Buffalo NY where my bestest bud, Billie, and I sat with stars in our eyes in spite of being located in the nose bleeds and my chaperoning Dad managed somehow to sleep through the entire show!

The cigar box full inventory
Pictures:
  • my first boyfriend ever in a pink frame, a gift he gave me for Valentines day. It also had adorable red heart earrings attached. Little factoid, the thing that made me like this kid was that he had frequent nose bleeds and would write his name on his desk with the blood. I acted like this was gross because the other girls did but really though it was hysterical!
  • film strip with boyfriend
  • film strip with me
  • me and Billie sticking out our tongues
  • picture of me in some school related club
  • all my school ID cards from the first through college
  • my first car: a super hot, though mishap prone, 70's Fiat convertible. I totaled it in college and replaced it with the '68 convertible beetle we still have
  • that lovely hiking picture
  • key chain with my grandparents pic
  • buttons, two with my soft ball pic and one with my brother's baseball pic

other stuff:
  • various patches for achievements
  • coins imprinted with important personalized messages like "Sunny loves so and so" (by another old machine that was next to the old photo booth)
  • my teeth
  • a cast of my thumb
  • trouble dolls
  • "best friend" heart earrings and necklace, I have one half and Billie the other
  • shell bracelet that I made with Billie
  • a bookmark from my grandma
  • a boat carved by my brother from bark
  • some coins we mutilated while bored
  • 3D glasses
  • a KKK business card, no joke, this was handed to me by a guy at my new high school after moving south, talk about culture shock!
  • A note from my mom on how proud my parents were of me that was put in my lunch box
  • high school graduation tassel
  • girl scout memorabilia
  • my dad's St. Christopher money clip
  • One of my only match box cars, a pink Jeep with Snoopy driving
  • 70's style wallpaper sample from my old room in Fredonia, NY before the redo
  • a little naked baby figure. I have no idea where it came from but it's been around as long as I can remember and I've always loved it.

Ignorance Is Not Bliss: Silhouette Craft Robo

NOTE: My shop The Beehive is now Papercut Kitchen! Please visit my shop Papercut Kitchen by clicking here.

So my beloved Silhouette Craft Robo digital craft cutter machine thingamajiggy doohickie's blade has gone dull again. It's only the second time but it made my heart sink with thoughts of the last time I had to replace it (you can read about that here). I started digging around online for the cheapest replacement. Ugh, I live in a town without an adequate scrapbook supply store for a snoot like myself! So I have to stop in the middle of a project, something I despise, and order and wait for supplies. Boohoo for me. Or do I? In this need I learned something marvelous at The Quilling Patch, I can sharpen my own blade, very very easily! All I had to do is cover my cutting matte with tin foil and run it through! No more arm and a leg replacements for me! This site is a fantastic resource for scrappers so check it out: The Quilling Patch. She not only tells you how to sharpen your blade (here) but has free GSD file Friday where you can download free designs and shows you how to make your own cutting mattes!

I also noticed that the Quickutz website seems to be a little deceptive in the selling of their blades. The expensive set (it costs $45 and you can see here) has plenty of details, while there's a much cheaper blade without all the unneeded doodads but they don't have an item description and it actually took me much hunting to realize that was even what it was (it costs $10 and you can see that here). Then I went to purchase it and couldn't. It didn't say out of stock or unavailable it just mysteriously sent me to a page full of other products, including the expensive blade replacement set. Smells a little like fish market to me.

Off to play with my beloved again. I'm working on some new designs for cute little appreciation boxes to add to my shop like the one at the top of this post. Happy Crafting!
